Q.1 When will be the Common Law Admission Test – 2014 held?

A.1 The date of Common Law Admission Test – 2014 is 11th May, 2014 (Sunday) between 3:00pm to 5:00 pm.

Q.4 What is the eligibility criteria for candidates (Indian Nationals only) seeking admission through CLAT-2014 in Postgraduate Courses?

 

A.4 The eligibility criteria for candidates (Indian Nationals only) seeking admission through CLAT-2014 in Postgraduate Courses shall be as per the following:

(a) As regards minimum percentage of marks in qualifying examination (i.e., LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B./any other equivalent examination), the candidates must have:

       (i)  Fifty five Percent (55%) marks in case belongs to General/OBC/PWD and other category, and

       (ii) Fifty Percent (50%) marks in case belongs to SC/ST category.

(b)  The result of qualifying examination shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the Course. No provisional admission shall be provided to those candidates who are not submitting the result of the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

(c) Those appearing in qualifying examination in March/April 2014 are also eligible to apply. No provisional admission shall be provided to those candidates who are not submitting the result of the qualifying examination at the time of admission/within the timeframe prescribed by the respective Universities/ Institutes.

 

Q.5 What will be the procedure to break the tie in case of equal marks secured by the candidates appearing the CLAT?

A.5 In case of equal marks secured by candidates, the procedure to break the tie will be as per the following:

       (i)   Higher marks in the Essay Type Descriptive Section in CLAT-2014

       (ii)  Higher age

       (iii) Computerized draw of lots

Q.6 When will be the first Admission Notification of CLAT-2014 be issued?

A.6 The first Admission Notification of CLAT-2014 will be issued in the month of December, 2013.

Q.7 Where will be the Information Brochure of CLAT-2014 available?

A.7 The CLAT-2014 Information Brochure can be downloaded from the CLAT website (www.clat.ac.in) as well as the websites of the member NLUs.           

Q.8 From which date the online Application Form and Information Brochure can be accessed?

A.8 The Application Forms and Information Brochure will be accessible from 1st January 2014 (Wednesday).

Q.9 What will be the duration between which the online Application From can be submitted?

A.9 The submission of online Application Forms can be done between 1st January, 2014 (Wednesday) to 31st March, 2014 (Monday, 11:59 p.m.).

Q.10 How can the Foreign Nationals take admission in various NLUs?

A.10 Foreign Nationals need not take the CLAT-2014 for admission in various NLUs. They can contact/visit the website of respective NLUs of interest to know the procedure of admission.

Q.11 What is the procedure to take admission under the NRI/NRI sponsored seats in various NLUs?

A.11 The candidate interested in seeking admission in any of the NLUs under the NRI/NRI sponsored seat shall undertake the CLAT-2014. The admission will be based on the merit in CLAT-2014. The students are also simultaneously required to complete the formalities of the respective universities, if any, for which the candidate need to, contact the respective university of interest for further information.

Q.12 How much fees shall be remitted for filling-up of CLAT-2014 Application Form?

A.12 The fees to be remitted while submitting the Application Form of CLAT-2014 shall be as per the following:

       o    For General/OBC/PWD and other category candidates: ` 4000/-.

       o    For SC/ST category candidates: ` 3500/-.

The candidates will have to bear the bank transaction costs for remitting the fee online while submitting the application form.

Q.13 How much fees shall be remitted for procuring the previous CLAT Question paper Booklets.

A.13 Previous Years Question Paper Booklets can be procured both online and offline by remitting a charge of ` 250/-. For procuring the Booklets via post  from CLAT Office (at GNLU) an additional amount of ` 150/- shall be provided towards postal charges. The supply will start after the notification of  CLAT-2014.

Q.14 Which will be the various modes of submission of application forms for CLAT-2014 by prospective applicants?

A.14 There will be only one mode of submission of Application Forms i.e. online.

Q.15 Which are the cities where the admission test will be conducted?

A.15 The Admission Test will be conducted at 21 cities (cities of the 14 participating Universities + 7 cities such as Jaipur, Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai,  Chennai, Jammu and Siliguri).

If sufficient numbers of applications (i .e. minimum 100) are not received for any City/ Centre, conduct of examination at that City/Centre may be cancelled        and such candidates may be allotted a Test City/Centre according to the second and third preference furnished by them.

Q. 16 What will be the pattern of questions for admission to UG Courses in CLAT-2014?

A. 16 The CLAT-2014 Question Paper for UG courses shall have multiple choice type questions as per the following scheme:

  • (a) Maximum Marks : 150
  • (b) Duration of CLAT-2014 : 02:00 Hours
  • (c) Long Essay Type Descriptive Questions: 100 Marks (4 questions of 25 marks each) (Pertaining to subject areas such as Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence)
  • (d) Multiple-Choice Questions : 50 Marks (50 questions of 1 mark each) (Covers all subjects except Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence prescribed by BCI for Under-Graduate Courses)
  • (e) Negative Marking : 0.25 Mark/wrong answer to MCQ

There shall be a system of Negative Marking wherein 0.25 mark each will be deducted for each of the wrong answers to Multiple Choice Questions.
The OMR sheets shall be darkened with black ball point pen only and the candidates shall not be allowed to carry the Question papers.

Q. 17 From where is the Domicile Certificate issued?

A. 17 Domicile certificate is issued by Government Offices, which may differ depending on the state. Only those candidates need to upload the domicile certificate who wish to take admission under this category in a specific University. If a candidate has applied for the domicile certificate now and it will take time to get the certificate, then the candidate can even upload the attested photocopy of the payment receipt received from the Government Office.

Q. 18 Is there any cut-off marks to clear the CLAT Exam?

A. 18 No. On the basis of Merit list, the candidate will be eligible to proceed with the admission.

Q. 19 Old CLAT question papers can be available without registration?

A. 19 No.

Q. 20 Do Candidate Photograph, Candidate Signature & Parents/Guardian Signature photocopies are to be attested?

A. 20 No. Apart from the above mentioned photocopies, all the other photocopies are to be attested by a Gazetted Officer not related to the candidate.

Q. 21 What is the minimum percentage (%age) rate required for PWD candidates?

A. 21 Percentage (%age) of disability should be equal to/above 40% for consideration under the PWD category.

Q. 22 How many years of Question Booklets are available on CLAT website?

A. 22 CLAT Previous Year's Question Booklet (2008-2013).

Q. 23 For Assam Candidates, from where the North-East certificates issued?
